Imagine a Hebrew School where kids don't want to miss a day.  Our students come to school with a smile, and leave humming a Hebrew song! Our challenge at Chabad is to find ways to open the minds and souls of our students, so that they will want to learn. A new and creative learning environment replaces the traditional Hebrew School setting.

Unprecedented times call for a radically different approach to our Hebrew school learning! Our new 2020/21 Hebrew School curriculum, BRINGING IT HOME, will ensure our students participation, grow their knowledge, and allow them to experience Judaism like never before!

Bringing it Home has been developed to ensure that the content is both developmentally appropriate and user-friendly for both online and in person settings. The curriculum is scaffolded to cater to each student within three age groups: K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

Our curriculum has been designed to be taught through a diverse set of mediums, including drama, construction, STEM, and stop-motion animation. The curriculum comprises seven units, focusing on lessons that are learned from each room of the home. The subjects will come alive as students learn about the Jewish holidays, empathy, respect and integrity amongst other life skills and Jewish values while exploring each room of their house.

In addition, Chabad Hebrew School students will take part in the cutting edge Aleph Champ program, a highly motivational system time tested and proven to be the fastest and most effective method of teaching Hebrew reading!

We believe that our staff has to be living role models for our students. Our staff consists of men and women whose enthusiasm, knowledge and creative energy, bring spirit, warmth and a wealth of education to our school. We believe that children learn from doing, and that frontal teaching does not work in an after-school setting. Our students learn through engaging their artistic abilities or by an actual hands on lesson. For example, we teach the High Holidays with fantastic Honey Making and Create your Own Shofar workshops! The children learn about Shabbat by coming down to the Rabbi's house and making their own Challah and Matzah Ball soup! Art, Music, Drama and Song, enrich the students lessons and help them learn in a fun and exciting manner.

While we encourage synagogue attendance, we do not require our students to be members in a synagogue. Our student body is comprised of children ages 4-13, from various backgrounds and affiliations, and all of our families are invited to attend services at the Chabad synagogue.
